- Marketing and packaging – e.g. by looking at the significance of plain packaging in Norway compared to the other Nordic countries and how marketing and packaging affects uptake, use and perceptions.
- The health risks of the products, especially with focus on cancer.
May 10, 2019 Nordic Cancer Union has announced two calls for applications regarding strategic projects: 1) New tobacco products, snus and e-cigarettes. 2) Research projects on socioeconomic inequality and cancer. Application deadline: 2 September 2019. Strategic projects concerning new tobacco products, snus and e-cigarettes NCU invites relevant applicants to apply for funding targeted at strategic projects concerning new tobacco products and nicotine containing products (smokeless tobacco, snus, chewing tobacco, heated tobacco products and e-cigarettes). We encourage not only applications targeting classical research/science projects but also projects with a more broad approach. The project(s) should give insight to the prevalence of use of smokeless tobacco, snus, chewing tobacco, heated tobacco products and e-cigarettes in the Nordic Countries2 especially with focus on their use and appeal among children and adolescents with the aim of proposing recommendations for a common NCU policy in the area.
